In March 1999 a totally revised DB7 Vantage and Vantage Volante made their debut at the annual Geneva Motorshow. Building on the success of the in-line 6cylinder DB7 the new Vantage models featured an all new 420bhp, 6.0 litre V12 engine, with a choice of 6 speed manual or 5 speed automatic gearbox. A ‘Touchtronic’ option quickly became available offering a more involving experience for customers who preferred automatic gearboxes.

There is no doubt the DBS is one of the best-looking cars on the market, and the drop-top's roof mechanism is neatly packaged. In reality the Volante is pretty much a car in its own right, as it was developed independently of the coupe, despite the fact it shares much of its technology with the hard-top. General consensus seems to suggest that the V8 Roadster is the best car Aston Martin currently produces. Given the level of competition within the Aston range, that’s quite an accolade.
In essence a tighter, harder, faster DB9, but in spirit much closer to the fantastically hairy-chested thrills of the old Vanquish S. Makes a Ferrari look naff. Exquisite.

Aston Martin's V12 Vantage, with its relatively tiny body and huge V8 engine, is a savage car at times. But, in the face of more extreme competition, mere savagery just doesn't cut it. As a result, the company's chucked in an engine with four more cylinders. This, unsurprisingly, has transformed what was already a brute of a supercar into one of the angriest, most spiteful vehicles that money -- £130,000 specifically -- can buy: the V12 Vantage.

The Aston Martin V12 Vantage supercar is as beautiful as it is fast. It has its foibles, primarily where day-to-day usability is concerned, but, on the whole, it's an epic machine!
